Dear sir/madam, as an avid user of sudo on Solaris & Dynix, I've been told to
'get it sorted' for use on AIX (4.1.5 at the moment)

The trouble is that although I get sudo-1.6.3p5.tar.gz over the web, I've
haven't a clue what to do with it next. I've tried zcat, winzip, tar, restore
(Unix & Windows) etc. etc. I I just can't get anything out of it. I know that
I'm probably being a bit thick but your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanking you in advance,

Robin Battersby-Cornmell

You need to uncompress it with gzip. You could do something like:
    gzip -d -c sudo-1.6.3p5.tar.gz | tar xf -
If you don't have gzip you can get it from any GNU software mirror or snag it
from the sudo ftp site:
    ftp://ftp.courtesan.com/pub/sudo/misc/gzip-1.2.4a.shar
