One of the users of my Debian packages of sudo requested some time back that you consider skipping the pause when an entered (incorrect) password is empty.

The motivation for this is what happens when sudo is typed at the wrong machine, proving a 'natural reaction' of hitting return or C-c at the Password: prompt which imposes a pause.

I'm personally satisfied with the current situation, but pass this along for your consideration.

Current versions of sudo don't have the problem.  It was actually PAM that was generating the pause as it tried to process an empty password.
