I have a bunch of old files on my MAC, I am trying to erase them. I dont know what else to do... I watched a video on YouTube and it said to type in the command "sudo rm - R " so I did. Then I highlighted and drug the files that were in the trash, to the terminal window just as he did, and followed the promts he said to. Then I hit enter to get to the bottom, and its like it froze up! The part where youre supposed to be able to put your password in; it wont let me type anything, I have even hit tab and then enter like the "help portion" and it still wouldn't let me put in my password!!!!

 > Should I make the files to folders, and then just drag the folder(s) into the terminal window?
  > Is it not up to date?
    > What else could I be doing wrong?

Can you help with this?????

Please & Thank you

I'm not sure why you cannot just drag the files to the recycle bin. You can use sudo to remove the files but it is dangerous as you have to be careful not to delete the wrong thing as you cannot undelete files removed in this way.

When you run sudo in the terminal window you need to enter your password at the "Password:" prompt and press the enter key. Nothing will echo to the screen (to prevent displaying the password) but you will get the shell prompt back after you press enter and rm is finished running.

Note that the command you want to run is "rm -R" not "rm - R"
