OpenSSL 3.0 has deprecated some of the APIs that sudo uses.  See https://www.openssl.org/docs/man3.0/man7/migration_guide.html for details on migrating away from deprecated APIs.

Patches for this have been written that will be committed post 1.9.8

OpenSSL 3.0 support was committed early in the 1.9.9 release cycle.
